WIPO signed cooperation agreements during the 2022 Assemblies of the Member States of WIPO with Universidad del Norte in Colombia; and with Intellectual Property Implementing Agency of the Government of Mongolia (IPOM), the Mongolian National University of Arts and Culture (MNUAC), and the University of Finance and Economics of Mongolia (UFE) to support access to intellectual property (IP) higher education.
On July 21, 2022 WIPO Director General Daren Tang, Mr. Elbegsaikhan Ganbat, Director General of IPOM, Prof. E. Sonintogos, President of MNUAC, and Prof. B Munkhbayar, Rector of UFE signed an agreement committing to the enhancement of the quality of IP teaching, training and skills-building in the relevant master’s degree programs offered by both universities. By cooperating with MNUAC and UFE, WIPO’s support would benefit both the business sector, and the creative industries. The support that will be provided by the WIPO Academy, and facilitated by IPOM, includes the participation of WIPO experts in lectures; collaborating on IP research projects and publications; and organizing symposia and conferences.
With the signing of this memorandum of understanding, IPOM looks forward to continuing our work with WIPO to help build knowledge and awareness of IP in the minds of our future entrepreneurs, business leaders and artists.

Mr. Hasan Kleib, Deputy Director General of the Regional and National Development Sector at WIPO, and Mr. Adolfo Meisel Roca, the Rector of Universidad del Norte signed an agreement on July 22, 2022 to collaborate on enhancing IP education at the university. The agreement is part of WIPO’s efforts to promote IP in Colombia, Central America, the Caribbean islands and the Andean Region of South America at large. The WIPO Academy will support Universidad del Norte by providing IP experts to lecture in university courses, and teaching materials including resource materials such as textbooks. WIPO Academy and the Universidad del Norte will also jointly organize research projects, conferences and summer schools as part of the collaboration.
