WIPO is now accepting applications for the next editions of the following Master’s Degree Programs:

The Master’s Degree Program in Intellectual Property (MIP), jointly offered with the African Regional Intellectual Property Organization (ARIPO) and Africa University in Mutare, Zimbabwe; and
The Master’s Degree in Intellectual Property and Innovation (MIPI), jointly offered with the National Institute of Industrial Property (INPI) of Argentina and the University of San Andrés in Buenos Aires.

More about the MIP at Africa University

Each year the MIP jointly offered by the WIPO Academy, ARIPO and Africa University is organized with the financial support of the Government of Japan, and several full scholarships are awarded to qualified candidates from the Africa region. Applications for the MIP are due by February 28, 2023.

The MIP consists of three phases that will take place from May 2023 until April 2024:

The program will start with a distance learning phase from May to July, 2023
In-person residential phase at Africa University from August to December, 2023
Dissertation writing phase from December 2023 to April 2024.

What will you learn about during the MIP?

The MIP program consists of lectures and practical group work covering a range of intellectual property (IP) topics with a focus on Africa such as:

New models of branding;
Copyright protection in the digital environment;
IP biotechnology and food security;
Licensing IP assets;
Business model canvas and lean startup methodology; and
New media and models of IP enforcement.

All the lectures are taught by renowned IP experts who offer personalized guidance to all students. Alumni of the MIP program have gone on to apply their IP knowledge and skills in careers in academia from researchers to educators, in the public sector as government officials, and in the private sector as entrepreneurs, creators and innovators.

A breakdown of the MIPI at the University of San Andrés

The Master’s Degree in Intellectual Property and Innovation (MIPI), jointly offered by the WIPO Academy, INPI Argentina and the University of San Andrés in Buenos Aires is currently accepting applications until December 20, 2022. The MIPI is the only WIPO Joint Master’s Program offered entirely in Spanish.

The distance learning phase of the upcoming edition will take place from February 1 to March 31, 2023, which will be followed by a residential phase at the University of San Andrés from May 2 to November 13, 2023.
