Coming Soon: An IP Training Institution in Armenia

March 20, 2023

WIPO Academy and the Intellectual Property Office of Armenia signed an agreement on March 16, 2023 to establish an intellectual property training institution (IPTI) in Armenia. The new IPTI will be Armenia’s self-sustaining training hub for intellectual property (IP), catering to local needs and priority areas.

To help Armenia establish an IPTI, the WIPO Academy has prepared for a series of training of trainer lessons for more than 30 national IP professionals from the public and private sectors, in addition to academia. The IP professionals have been nominated as the first cohort of trainers for the IPTI once it is established.

The IPTI in Armenia is scheduled to launch in 2025 to deliver training courses on the basics of IP as well as more specialized areas aligned with the needs of audiences such as small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) and the youth.

The WIPO Academy has successfully set up 14 IPTIs to date, with another 14 underway, including in Armenia. To foster cooperation and networking among the IPTIs that have been established and are in progress, the WIPO Academy built a Virtual Network enabling IPTIs to partner and collaborate on joint initiatives and share experiences.
