The WIPO Academy teamed up with the Jordanian Ministry of Youth to offer two Innovation, Creativity and Intellectual Property (IP) Youth Camps from August 1 to 8, 2023 in Amman, Jordan to 60 participants aged 18 to 24.
The participants attended the camps to learn about IP and business commercialization through interactive lessons, group activities, trivia quizzes and exercises that triggered out-of-the-box thinking. Local success stories of young entrepreneurs with IP protection were featured in cooperation with the Jordan River Foundation to inspire the young participants.
After learning about the theory of inventive problem solving (TRIZ), core IP concepts, and how to apply their knowledge to protect their creativity and innovation in the market, the participants were encouraged to tap into their entrepreneurial, creative and innovative potentials by developing proposals for businesses with a positive social impact.
The support offered by the WIPO Academy falls under the framework of the IP4Youth&Teachers service, which assists IP offices, ministries of education and youth based institutions with their efforts to invigorate creativity and IP by adapting WIPO’s course content to the cultural heritage and linguistic preferences of their countries. The IP4Youth&Teachers service includes the selection of IP Youth Ambassadors, teachers’ training, curricula development, and a forum for policy dialogue among educators.
