December 14, 2023

Twenty-nine students from more than 10 counties across both the programs had the unique opportunity to get a deeper insight and understanding into WIPO's work and learn about the latest developments in intellectual property (IP) from WIPO experts.

The students also had the chance to network and explore career opportunities available at WIPO, such as the Young Experts Program and internship opportunities. At the end of the study visit, the students used the WIPO Knowledge Center to further their research.

Which topics were covered during the joint study visit?

Through practical and interactive lectures, the students learned about WIPO's pioneering initiatives such as the Global Innovation Index and WIPO Green.

WIPO experts also addressed key IP topic areas during the study visit that demonstrate the linkages between IP and public policy issues such as:

  • IP finance and valuation;
  • IP and new technologies;
  • IP and global challenges; and
  • The United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (UNSDGs).

The study visits coincided with the WIPO-WTO Colloquium of Teachers of IP, so the students could benefit from the discussions on IP covered in that program and interact with leading IP teachers from universities worldwide.
