The WIPO Academy and American University Washington College of Law (AUWCL) committed to an agreement ushering in a new era of cooperation in intellectual property (IP) education.
The cooperation focuses on enhancing access to IP higher education opportunities with AUWCL for participants from developing countries, least-developed countries and countries in transition. The support envisioned includes reduced fees and scholarship opportunities for AUWCL summer courses and Master of Laws (LL.M.) programs. AUWCL also agreed to offer the WIPO Academy distance learning courses to its enrolled students for academic credit.
Mr. Sherif Saadallah, Executive Director of the WIPO Academy, and Mr. Roger A. Fairfax Jr., Dean of American University Washington College of Law, signed a new cooperation agreement between both academic institutions on IP education on April 22, 2024 at AUWCL headquarters in Washington D.C., United States of America.
The first offering that falls under this cooperation is the two-week summer course on “International Rule Making and Dispute Settlement – the World Trade Organization (WTO), WIPO and the Multilateral System” taking place in-person at WIPO and WTO headquarters in Geneva, Switzerland from June 10 to 18, 2024.
