Relevant differences between the UDRP and the .AE Policy

It is sufficient for the complainant to prove that either registration or subsequent use of the domain name is in bad faith, whereas the UDRP requires the complainant to prove both elements

Eligibility Criteria

Registration of domain names under .AE and امارات. is unrestricted

Supported characters

.AE and امارات. domain names support both ASCII and IDN characters

  • - have between two and 63 characters;
  • - begin with a letter or a number and end with a letter or a number;
  • - use the English character set and may contain letters, numbers and dashes or a combination of these;
  • - neither begin with, nor end with a dash;
  • - not contain a dash in the third and fourth positions;
  • - not include a space

امارات. domain names in the Arabic script will be composed of a U-Label Form (“User Form”) and a corresponding ALabel Form (“DNS Form”)

  • - be in Unicode Normalisation Form C (NFC);
  • - consist only of Unicode Code Points present in the Tables of Allowed Letters, Numbers and Special Characters defined in Appendix A;
  • - not begin with a number (English ASCII or Arabic numbers);
  • - not contain both English ASCII AND Arabic numbers;
  • - neither begin with nor end with a dash;
  • - not contain a dash in the third and fourth positions;
  • - not include a space
  • - have no more than a maximum of 63 characters in each label;
  • - be the ASCII Compatible Encoding equivalent of a valid User Form as described in section 9.5.2 of the dotEmarat Domain Name Policy. This label will:
    • - use the English ASCII character set and may contain letters, numbers and dash or a combination of these;
    • - begin with a letter or a number and end with a letter or a number;
    • - neither begin with nor end with a dash;
    • - not include a space.
    • - must start with xn--
