Eligibility Criteria

Registration of .QA domain names is unrestricted.  However, third-level domain names are restricted for entities and individuals located in the State of Qatar

Supported characters

.QA and قطر. domain names support both ASCII and IDN characters

  • .QA domain names using the English ASCII character set:
  • - may have between two and 63 characters;
  • - may contain letters, numbers, and dashes;
  • - must begin with a letter or a number and end with a letter or a number;
  • - may not begin with, nor end with a dash;
  • - may not contain dashes in the third and fourth positions;
  • - may not include a space

The User Form of the Domain Name must:

  • - be in Unicode Normalisation Form C (NFC);
  • - consist only of Arabic Script Unicode Code Points present in the Tables of Allowed Letters, Numbers and Special Characters defined in Appendix A;
  • - have a minimum of two characters;
  • - not begin with a number;
  • - not contain both English ASCII and Arabic numbers;
  • - neither begin with nor end with a hyphen(-);
  • - not contain hyphens in the third and fourth positions (e.g. www.ab- -cd.qa); and
  • - not include a space (e.g. www.ab cd.qa)
  • The DNS Form of the Domain Name must:
  • - have no more than a maximum of 63 characters;
  • - be the ASCII Compatible Equivalent of a valid User Form

The label will:

  • - use the English ASCII character set and may contain letters, numbers, and dashes;
  • - begin with a letter or a number and end with a letter or a number;
  • - neither begin with, nor end with a dash;
  • - not include a space
