Curriculum Vitae Justice Austin Amissah
Justice Austin Amissah is a national of Ghana, resident in the United Kingdom. He is currently a Legal Consultant in London, a Domain Name Panelist for WIPO, and President of the Court of Appeal in Botswana. His previous posts include: Professor and Dean of the Faculty of Law, University of Ghana; Chairman of the Ghana Law Reform Commission; and Leader of the Commonwealth Observer Mission to South Africa.
Justice Amissah belongs to various professional bodies such as the Ghana Bar Association, British Institute of International and Comparative Law, African Society of International and Comparative Law, the International Bar Association, and he is President of the Pan Africa Council of the London Court of International Arbitration. Justice Amissah has experience in Intellectual Property, Court litigation, and arbitration, ranging from being delegated by the Ghana Government to consult on Copyright Law to being Judge in the Court of Appeal in Ghana.
His publications include: Criminal Procedure in Ghana, for which he won the NOMA Award for Publication in Africa and the Ghana Book Award; The Contribution of the Courts to Government: a West African View; and more recently, Choice of Arbitration Rules: The Dilemma of an African Adviser on the Internet.
Justice Amissah graduated from Oxford University with a BA and an MA, and obtained a Barrister-at-Law from Lincolns Inn, London.
