Curriculum Vitae Mr. Christopher Gibson
Christopher Gibson is Head of the Electronic Commerce Law Section in the Office of Legal and Organization Affairs at the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) in Geneva.
He holds a law degree from Boalt Hall School of Law, University of California at Berkeley (1988), a Masters in Public Policy degree from the Kennedy School of Government at Harvard University (1984), and a Bachelors degree from the University of Chicago (1982).
Following law school, Mr. Gibson clerked for The Honorable Stanley A. Weigel in the Federal District Court for the Northern District of California. Before joining WIPO in 1997, he practiced with the international law firm of Pillsbury, Madison & Sutro in San Francisco, California, worked as a Legal Assistant at the Iran-United States Claims Tribunal in The Hague, The Netherlands, and headed a division of the United Nations Compensation Commission in Geneva dealing with claims arising from the Gulf War.
Mr. Gibson is an expert in the legal issues relating to electronic commerce and intellectual property, and in particular domain names and the related disputes with IP holders.
