Richard KECK is a founding partner of the Macmillan Keck law firm, and is based in New York City. His firm’s work is primarily focused on the global ICT sector, and the types of work the firm handles include corporate, financial, commercial, intellectual property, regulatory and dispute resolution.

Mr. Keck’s practice emphasizes business strategy and planning, transactions, regulatory counseling and dispute resolution. For 24 years, in the ICT sector, he has represented governments, regulators, international organizations, trade associations, telecom network operators, electric utilities, financial institutions, technology providers and their customers.

At the intersection of IP and ICT, Mr. Keck has assumed a leadership role in the evolution of the legal system and related business practices over the past 15 years, including:

  • public policy initiatives to transform the legal and regulatory framework to address changes in technology and methods of doing business;
  • IP development, protection and licensing strategies in the context of increasingly collaborative enterprises;
  • the work of standards bodies and policy makers on technology neutrality and open systems;
  • complex ownership, infringement and licensing disputes; and
  • improving confidentiality and security measures for industrial trade secrets, databases, and personal data.

He has also worked on a wide variety of commercial agreements involving the collection, creation, improvement, exchange, licensing, acquisition, sale, financing and/or other handling of IP and other information assets.

Mr. Keck earned a JD cum laude from the Harvard Law School and a BS in mathematics and BA in economics from Emory University. He is admitted to practice as a solicitor in England & Wales and an attorney in New York and Georgia.
