Rory MACMILLAN is a Founding Partner of Macmillan Keck, a law firm based in Geneva, Switzerland. The firm has a strong expertise and track record in the ICT sector worldwide, advising governments, regulators, incumbents, new entrants, investors and international institutions on corporate and commercial transactions, regulatory and policy matters, and dispute resolution. Mr. Macmillan led the firm's representation of a client in its US$3.4 billion dollar licence bid in Saudi Arabia and has drafted telecommunications laws in several countries. He has experience in most areas of telecommunication disputes. For example, he was Chairman of an arbitration panel dealing with the first interconnection dispute in Trinidad & Tobago, mediated the opening of the Fijian telecommunications market to competition, has negotiated millions of dollars of international telecommunication dispute settlements for clients, and acted as independent expert in several disputes internationally. He is regularly engaged by the World Bank to advise on regulatory matters. Mr. Macmillan began his practice in New York and London with Debevoise & Plimpton. He received his LLM from the Yale Law School (Fulbright and Rotary Scholarships), and his LLB (First Class Honours) from the University of Edinburgh. Memberships include: New York Bar; WIPO List of Mediators and Arbitrators; Accredited Mediator by the Centre for Effective Dispute Resolution (CEDR); member of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators and; member the Electronic Media Panel of the Communications Providers Independent Alternative Dispute Resolution Service. He is author of numerous articles and co-author of a World Bank book on dispute resolution. |
