WIPO Arbitration and Mediation Center (WIPO Center)

This webinar aims to promote the understanding of WIPO Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) options for resolving intellectual property (IP) and technology disputes within the Australian and New Zealand IP ecosystems. Targeted at IP lawyers, in-house counsel, patent and trademark attorneys, and business professionals, including SMEs, the session will familiarise attendees with international mediation and arbitration procedures, and highlight their benefits for resolving IP and technology disputes. Attendees will hear from the WIPO Arbitration and Mediation Center who will discuss IP and technology mediation and arbitration across multiple industries, with a focus on the practical application of WIPO’s Mediation, Arbitration, and Expedited Arbitration Rules, alongside expert guidance on drafting effective dispute resolution clauses. WIPO Arbitrator and Mediator Douglas Clark will share insights on the practical advantages of ADR in IP matters, such as efficiency, confidentiality, and cost-effectiveness, while Sydney-based Barrister Melissa McGrath will address the evolving landscape of IP mediation and arbitration in Australia and New Zealand. Q&A opportunities will allow attendees to engage directly with the speakers.
