National Seminar on the Budapest Treaty on the International Recognition of the Deposit of Microorganisms for the Purposes of Patent Procedure was organized virtually on October 21, 2020, in cooperation with the Uganda Registration Services Bureau (URSB).
The seminar provided an opportunity to learn about the benefits of the Budapest Treaty, national and regional legal provisions with respect to deposit of microorganisms as well as operations of International Depositary Authorities. In addition, experiences of research communities were shared during the seminar, highlighting the importance of biotechnology and deposit of microorganisms for patent procedures. A number of participants from universities, research institutions and government agencies of Uganda took part in the seminar.
