On July 27, 2023, the newly created collective mark SANDIDA was officially launched in Ghardimaou, Jendouba, Tunisia.

The event celebrated the registration of the collective mark of the local association of producers (Association des Producteurs pour la Promotion des Produits de Ghardimaou (APROG)) with the national IP Office in Tunisia (INNORPI).  The members of the association, who produce honey, honey‑derived products, essential oils, soaps, and other local products in the mountainous region of Ghardimaou, will be able to better position their products in the market by using the collective mark.

The Launch Event featured three panel discussions, each accompanied by a question and answer session.  The panels were comprised of representatives from WIPO, INNORPI, APROG, and academia members.  The discussions revolved around various topics, including the process of developing and registering a collective mark, the importance of this IP tool for product commercialization and market access, and the potential outlook for the SANDIDA collective mark.

The collective mark has been developed as part of the ongoing Development Agenda Project that WIPO is implementing in Tunisia in collaboration with INNORPI.  This project, with Bolivia, Brazil, and the Philippines as the other beneficiary countries, aims to facilitate the use of this IP tool by local communities.

Since the project was launched in January 2021, the project team has been working with APROG to fully grasp the potential benefits of a collective mark.  The project also covered the design of a logo, which was unveiled during the Launch Event.
