Philippine Patent Examiners Undergo Training at Swiss Patent Office

Under the Australia FIT/IP program, the Swiss Intellectual Property Institute hosted two patent examiners from the Intellectual Property Office of the Philippines (IPOPHL) for one week from April 16 to 20, 2018.
During the training, the IPOPHL examiners worked alongside experienced patent examiners at the Swiss Institute, focusing on the searching of inventions related to the use of genetic materials in specialized databases.
Both IPOPHL examiners were very appreciative of the expert training that deepened their expertise in combining sophisticated databases to which IPOPHL had obtained access prior to its recent appointment as an International Searching Authority under the PCT.
