The World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) concluded a 6-month Remote Mentorship Program for the EIE participating countries with support from the Japan Patent Office.
The objective of the EIE Project for IP and Technology is to assist countries make better use of IP at the university and research institute level in order to help a country to maximize its own innovative capacity. By improving ways to capture valuable outcomes from research, the EIE project aims to improve economic development and social welfare.
In this program, WIPO’s experts provided remote training and guidance to Technology Transfer Offices (TTOs) and research institutions across Malaysia, Philippines, Sri Lanka, Thailand and Viet Nam. From October 2021 to March 2022, they assisted 36 institutions across the five countries to learn about IP management practices based on the institution’s own technologies, supporting a total of 52 technologies and innovations.
In addition to the mentored and guidance provided, the participating institutions also benefited from online lectures on the wide range of substantial issues relating technology transfer, such as Evaluation of Inventions, IP Licensing, and Institutional IP Policy Development.
This program recently concluded with a final wrap-up discussion, where the experts shared their overall feedback and future advice to the participants.
