The World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO), the Patent Office of the Republic of Bulgaria and the University of National and World Economy co-organized an Inter-Regional Symposium on Teaching Intellectual Property in Countries in Transition. Seventy university professors and lecturers participated; fourteen of them were from Belarus, Croatia, Czech Republic, Israel, Kazakhstan, Latvia, Moldova, Poland, Russian Federation, Serbian, Slovenia, Turkey, Ukraine and Uzbekistan and the rest were from Bulgaria.
The symposium was held at the University of National and World Economy on May 10 and 11, 2010.
The objectives of the symposium were: to provide a forum for exchange of information on academic IP teaching; to discuss on the challenges faced by academic institutions and opportunities in overcoming the challenges and how the professors would cooperate in IP teaching in the region, as well as agree the focus of the tool for teaching IPRs for countries in transition.
