House of Mausio: Traditional block-printing meets modern design to create unique fashion pieces in Fiji

Transcript

In Fiji, a young designer is combining old and new to produce unique patterns using traditional handmade block printing. Inspired by his travels around the Pacific Islands, Michael Mausio produces two collections a year featuring fresh patterns, colors and prints. House of Mausio is a family run business, with Michael's mother managing operations from their base in the heart of Fiji’s capital, Suva. Fifteen local staff help bring Michael’s visions to life through their expert printing and manufacturing. As he sets his sights on global growth, Michael seeks to trademark his name and leave his mark with his unique designs.
