Invitation: Local Capabilities and Global Networks – September 7, 2022

August 24, 2022

WIPO – in collaboration with IPOS - is pleased to invite you to a launch event on “Innovation Hotspots: Local Capabilities and Global Networks”, at the sidelines of Singapore’s IP Week 2022.

Innovation is increasingly international. Cross-border collaborations are on the rise as technology becomes more complex. With the surge of remote work and accelerated digitalization, businesses can more easily bring together geographically distributed teams and talents to collaborate on the development and deployment of new technologies. Such cross-border collaborations have immense potential to accelerate innovation and economic development.

What makes certain innovation ecosystems more attractive than others?

How can other regions tap into the global network of innovation collaborations, and grow?

What are the lessons to be learned from the innovation hotspots of the world?

This launch event showcases the results of international research on what makes certain regions more innovative. New indicators that can help policymakers assess their region’s innovativeness will be shared, alongside policy insights and the lessons learned from studying the technological trajectories of three innovation hotspots – São Paulo (Brazil), Shenzhen (China), and Singapore. Representatives from the private and public sectors will discuss what it would take for local centers of innovation to become tomorrow’s global innovation powerhouses.

For more details see the full program.
