WIPO – in collaboration with Invent Together – is organizing a series of online seminars with intellectual property (IP) offices and innovation stakeholders on the IP gender and diversity gaps in the African and Arab regions, on May 30 –31, 2023.
These virtual seminar series on the IP gender and diversity gap bring together stakeholders in the innovation ecosystem, with the goal to raise awareness, evaluate it quantitatively and qualitatively, and discuss policies and other actions that show promise in addressing it.
The first two sets of seminars in the series focused on the Americas, European and the Asian-Pacific regions. They took place on October 13-14, 2021, May 31 - June 1, 2022, and November 30 – December 1, 2022 respectively. This first panel will bring together policymakers from the African and Arab regions to discuss the importance of designing policies to address the IP gender and diversity gaps, and engaging women’s participation in the innovation ecosystem.

This second panel will highlight studies and methodological approaches employed by IP and innovation economists from the regions to discuss the challenges in measuring and analyzing the IP gender and diversity gaps.
