On May 2, 2024, the World Intellectual Property Report (WIPR) 2024 on Making innovation policy work for development, will be released. The report looks into how and why economies diversify by drawing on original analysis and cases.

Making innovation policy work for development

This year’s WIPR explores how policymakers can take informed decisions on how to boost innovation and drive economic development. It focuses on the importance of building, diversifying and applying local knowledge in technologies to build their innovative capabilities, and strengthen their innovation ecosystems.

Drawing on original analysis and three case studies, the report provides insights on how economies can diversify their capabilities with the support of innovation policies.

Launch event

The hybrid event will be held in the WIPO Conference Hall at WIPO headquarters in Geneva, Switzerland and streamed online on May 2, 2024, from 2pm to 4pm (CET). 

The event will include a presentation of key findings of the report, followed by a panel discussion on Policies and initiatives to leverage innovation capabilities. WIPO Assistant Director-General of the Intellectual Property (IP) and Innovation Ecosystem Sector, Mr. Marco M. Alemán , will open the event.

The event will be in English, with simultaneous interpretation into Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian and Spanish.
