Invitation: Online Seminar Series on the Intellectual Property Gender and Diversity Gaps in the Asia-Pacific Region

WIPO – in collaboration with Invent Together – is organizing a series of online seminars with intellectual property (IP) offices and innovation stakeholders on the IP gender and diversity gaps in the Asia-Pacific region, on November 30 – December 1, 2022.

These virtual seminar series on the IP gender and diversity gap bring together stakeholders in the innovation ecosystem, with the goal to raise awareness, evaluate it quantitatively and qualitatively, and discuss policies and other actions that show promise in addressing it.

The first two sets of seminars in the series focused on the Americas and European regions. They took place on October 13-14, 2021, and May 31 - June 1, 2022, respectively. See recordings of the first and second panels on the Americas region, and the first and second panels on the European region.

Panel I: High-level policy panel on the IP gender and diversity gaps in the Asia-Pacific region

This first panel will bring together policymakers from the Asia-Pacific region to discuss the importance of designing policies to address the IP gender and diversity gaps, and engaging women’s participation in the innovation ecosystem.

Panel II: IP economists panel on challenges of measuring and analyzing the gender and diversity gaps in the IP system of the Asia-Pacific region

This second panel will highlight approaches and methodologies employed by the Chief Economists’ departments across the IP Offices, including from Australia, the Republic of Korea and Singapore – discuss the challenges in measuring and analyzing the IP gender and diversity gaps.
