Dr. David Akosa Okongwu is the Director General of the National Office for
Technology Acquisition and Promotion (NOTAP), a government agency under the
Federal Ministry of Science and Technology (FMST) for Technology Transfer,
Innovation Promotion and Commercialisation of R&D results. He has pioneered
innovation promotion and support for inventors and inventive activities in
Nigeria.
He has, before joining NOTAP, been in University teaching and research. Between 1973 and 1998, Dr. Okongwu was engaged in teaching and research, during which time he was, variously, Head of Department of Metallurgy and Materials Engineering, and Dean of Faculty of Engineering Technology. In 1991/1992 he was a visiting Academic at the Department of Mining and Metallurgical Engineering, University of Queensland, Brisbane, Australia. He has written extensively and has numerous papers in international learned journals to his credit. Dr. Okongwu is a metallurgist by profession. He graduated with B.Sc. Honours degree in Physics from the University of Ibadan, Nigeria, and had his post-graduate training in Britain and Canada, with a Masters degree in Metallurgy (M.Met. Iron and Steel Technology), from the University of Sheffield, England, and a PhD in Metallurgy from McMaster University, Hamilton, Ontario Canada. |
