David Mann has been severely visually impaired since birth. He grew up in Bristol, England and now lives in Northern Ireland. His employment history includes work as a translator (especially on the Concorde supersonic airliner project) and as a teacher of English as a foreign language. he has worked for RNIB, the UK’s leading agency for blind and partially sighted people, for almost 20 years in a number of roles, including that of manager of the RNIB Talking Book Service. He is currently employed as a Campaigns Officer, working on a range of issues including access to information and public utilities. He has been active in the field of copyright on behalf of the World Blind Union and its European regional affiliate for some years, and chairs the European Blind Union Copyright Working Group. He has led World Blind Union delegations to WIPO and spoken at SCCR meetings.
