Notes on Publication of Information
Publication of international registrations
1. International registrations are published in English, French and Spanish, the language of the international application appearing first, followed by the translations in italics (Information Notice No. 10/2009). With issue No. 2012/1, the International Designs Bulletin changed from a monthly to a weekly publication (Information Notice No. 15/2011).
2. The publication of international registrations is effected under the heading "Registrations (1960 and 1999 Acts)" (in issues Nos. 2010/1-2011/12 of the Bulletin, international registrations will be found under the heading "International Registrations" and in pre-2010 issues under one of the following two headings: "International Registrations Resulting from International Applications Governed Exclusively or Partly by the 1999 Act and/or the 1960 Act" and "International Registrations Resulting from International Applications Governed Exclusively by the 1934 Act" (Information Notice No. 9/2009 , on the freezing of the 1934 Act as from January 1, 2010)).
3. In the case of international registrations resulting from international applications governed exclusively or partly by the 1999 Act and/or the 1960 Act, reproductions of the designs are also published in this Bulletin. If the international registration includes more than one design, each of them is identified by a different number. Where the same industrial design is represented from different angles, the numbering consists of two figures separated by a dot (e.g. 1.1, 1.2, 1.3, etc., for the first industrial design; 2.1, 2.2, 2.3, etc., for the second industrial design; and so on). In the case of international registrations resulting from international applications governed exclusively by the 1934 Act, there is no provision for publication of reproductions of the designs.
4. International registrations resulting from international applications governed exclusively or partly by the 1999 Act and/or the 1960 Act necessarily have effect in at least one Contracting Party designated under the 1999 Act or the 1960 Act, and may, additionally, have effect in Contracting Parties designated under the 1934 Act. These Contracting Parties are expressly mentioned, for each international registration, after the code number (81) (Contracting Parties concerned); under I appear the names of the Contracting Parties designated under the 1934 Act, under II those of the Contracting Parties designated under the 1960 Act, and under III those of the Contracting Parties designated under the 1999 Act.
5. International registrations resulting from international applications governed exclusively by the 1934 Act have effect exclusively in Contracting Parties that have been designated under the 1934 Act. These Contracting Parties are mentioned, in respect of each international registration, under code number (81) (Designated Contracting Parties), under I (Contracting Parties designated under the 1934 Act).
6. The classification indicated after the abbreviation "Cl." (code (51)) corresponds to the classes and subclasses of the International Classification for Industrial Designs set up by the Locarno Agreement of October 8, 1968.
Codes used for the presentation of bibliographic data
7. The bibliographic data in respect of international designs are identified by the WIPO INID codes (INID stands for "Internationally agreed Numbers for the Identification of Data"), that is, the codes of Standard ST.80 ("Recommendation concerning bibliographic data relating to industrial designs") and Standard ST.3 ("Recommended standard two-letter code for the representation of States, other entities and international organizations issuing or registering industrial property titles"). The dates are given in standardized DD.MM.YYYY format.
