Hague System – Change in the designation fees: Japan, Israel and Hungary

The individual designation fees applicable when designating Japan in an international application or when renewing an international registration will be reduced from March 1, 2024.

Moreover, starting March 7, 2024, there will be a slight increase in the individual designation fees applicable when designating Israel in an international application or when renewing an international registration.

As for Hungary, level two standard designation fees will be applicable for international applications where the country is designated, starting April 1, 2024.

For Japan, the new fees will be as follows:

  • 436 Swiss francs for each design included in an international application;
  • 493 Swiss francs for the first, second, third and fourth renewal of each design.

For Israel, the new fees will be as follows:

  • 106 Swiss francs (default fee) and 63 Swiss francs (reduced fee) for each design included in an international application;
  • First renewal: 132 Swiss francs for each design;
  • Second renewal: 158 Swiss francs for each design;
  • Third renewal: 185 Swiss francs for each design;
  • Fourth renewal: 211 Swiss francs for each design.

For Hungary, the new fees will be as follows:

  • 60 Swiss francs for one design;
  • 20 Swiss francs for each additional design included in the same international application.

More about reduced fees for the designation of Israel

Reductions apply when designating Israel in an international application if you are:

  • a natural person;
  • a small entity whose yearly revenue does not exceed the amount set in the Israeli Design Regulations; or
  • a higher education institution recognized by Israeli law; and
  • you are not claiming priority of an earlier filing.
