Outcome - Tenth session Lisbon Working Group (October 27-31, 2014)
October 31, 2014
The purpose of the tenth session was to examine in detail the 21 pending issues under the draft Revised Lisbon Agreement (document LI/WG/DEV/10/2) and the draft Regulations (document LI/WG/DEV/10/3) enumerated in paragraph 5 of document LI/WG/DEV/10/2, and to agree on the texts of a Basic Proposal for the Diplomatic Conference for the Adoption of a new Act of the Lisbon Agreement for the Protection of Appellations of Origin and Their International Registration.
As a result, some pending issues could be settled while others will have to be decided by the Diplomatic Conference. Please refer to paragraph 13 of the Summary by the Chair for further details in that regard.
At the end of the session, the Working Group agreed:
- that the texts of the draft Revised Lisbon Agreement and the draft Regulations resulting from its consideration of the pending issues listed in paragraph 5 of document LI/WG/DEV/10/2 should constitute the basic proposal for the Diplomatic Conference; and
- to recommend that the Assembly of the Lisbon Union consider the need to amend, to the extent possible, the Regulations under the current Lisbon Agreement in view of the outcome of the Diplomatic Conference.
The tenth session was held back-to-back with the Preparatory Committee of the Diplomatic Conference.
