Warning: Requests for Payment of Fees – Misleading Invoices
Trademark users are receiving invitations to pay fees that do not come from WIPO and are unrelated to the processing of international applications and transactions related to registrations under the Madrid System. Whatever services might be offered in such documents, they bear no connection to WIPO or to any of its official publications.
The requests are typically designed to look like legitimate ones from an official source, but are created by companies and individuals of various sources and origins, using official-sounding names and trying to mislead you. WIPO raises awareness about these schemes and works with IP Offices and governments to take action against those responsible.
All international trademark registrations and related recordings are published in the "WIPO Gazette of International Marks", the only official publication of the Madrid System. Madrid Monitor available under eMadrid, contains information regarding international trademark applications, registrations and subsequent designations. It can be searched free of charge.
If you have any questions about a letter that you have received, please check with your representative or contact us.
