50 local business owners, designers, IP professionals and government officials joined the session which featured presentations on the key benefits the system offers, the online tools and resources, and practical tips on filing and managing an application. The IP Office of Viet Nam also contributed to the webinar by providing a speaker to make the opening remarks.

Following the presentations, the panelists fielded a range of questions that covered renewing a Hague registration, partial design registration, the ability to file through the IP Office of Viet Nam, the use of Locarno classes and WIPO’s Digital Access Service (DAS).

Viet Nam became the fourth ASEAN country to accede to the Hague Agreement when it deposited its instrument of accession with WIPO late last year. With a long creative history in the area of design, this was an important step for Viet Nam. The WIPO Singapore Office looks forward to continuing to support Viet Nam and its designers who are interested in using the Hague System to protect their designs overseas.
