Lunar New Year Starts with a Presentation to ASEAN IP Association

With great pleasure, the WIPO Singapore Office (WSO) accepted an invitation to speak at the annual ASEAN IP Association conference on February 17. It was a very auspicious start to the Lunar New Year with around 120 members of the ASEAN IP Association from nine ASEAN member states joining the webinar.

The WSO discussed the filing trends WIPO has seen in relation to use of its global IP services during 2020. The data revealed that use of the PCT and Madrid systems has been very resilient in the face of the pandemic, however it was also pointed out that there may be a lag in the impact of COVID-19 and the use of WIPO’s global services.

Mr. Saverio Patimo, Product Manager, WIPO PROOF, Geneva also contributed to the session and discussed the benefits of using WIPO PROOF - a global, online service that rapidly generates tamper-proof evidence proving an intellectual asset existed at a specific point in time, and that it has not been altered since then.
