WIPO-IPOS International Advanced Intellectual Property Management Programme
August 18, 2022
A smart car parking system, new synthetic knee cartilage and solar-powered buses were just three “fictional” technologies students in the WIPO-Intellectual Property Office of Singapore (IPOS) International Advanced Intellectual Property Management Programme (AIPM) presented during their pitch session to Mr. Peter Willimott of the WIPO Singapore Office and another panelist.
Each group of students needed to explain their selected technology, and then develop an IP strategy for its protection and commercial exploitation.
Jointly organized by WIPO and IPOS International, the AIPM focuses on the importance and strategic applications of IP management and how it intertwines with business strategies and growth. The programme features lectures from industry experts, real case study analysis, group discussions and project work. The programme also looks at the ASEAN IP landscape, exploring the way IP supports the growth of economies in the region and its impact in Asia.
This year’s edition was attended by students from 14 countries.
Earlier in the program, Mr. Willimott delivered a presentation on the various roles of WIPO in the international landscape that touched on WIPO’s wide array of services, as well as the importance of an effective international IP system. He was followed by WIPO Arbitration and Mediation Center staff member, Ms. Qiyao Dong who shared information on WIPO’s alternative dispute resolution services.
More information on the AIPM is available.
