Why does your office use the PCT?

"The Shanghai Patent and Trademark Law Office extends its warm and sincere congratulations to WIPO and the Office of the PCT on the millionth PCT filing. China joined PCT in 1994 and over the past 10 years the advantages of PCT filings have been widely recognized, appraised and used by Chinese applicants. The applicants have also very much appreciated the reforms of the PCT in simplifying the procedures and reducing the costs, encouraging applicants to rely on the PCT for international filings. By the year 2003, PCT filings by Chinese applicants reached 1,205 cases with the PCT being used for almost 50% of all foreign patent filings in the national phase in China."
