April 28, 2023 - Created in 2005 and advertised as having 50 million daily visitors and 4% of total Internet traffic at the peak of its popularity, the file-hosting platform Megaupload provided access to millions of gigabytes of copyright-protected content – most of it pirated. Seven years after its establishment, Megupload was shut down amid allegations of rampant piracy on the platform. In this episode, we sit down with Karyn Temple, Senior Executive Vice President and Global General Counsel, Motion Picture Association, to discuss the legal story of Megaupload, an ongoing copyright infringement case.
