Al Hussein Youth Camps in Jordan offer summer time fun with an IP twist

Sixty Jordanian participants aged between 15 and 17 had eureka moments during the creativity and innovation exercises they completed at Al Hussein Youth Camps.
In celebration of the International Youth Day, the Jordanian Ministry of Youth teamed up with WIPO to offer enhanced editions of Al Hussein Youth Camps with interactive seminars on innovation, creativity and intellectual property (IP). The Creativity and Innovation Al Hussein Youth Camps were held in Jordan throughout August 2022.
What did Al Hussein Youth Camps cover?
The 2022 editions of the camps aimed to empower the entrepreneurial, innovative and creative potential of the youth in Jordan by introducing them to key IP concepts in the context of commercialization. The seminars that were delivered by the WIPO Academy in Arabic and English, involved group activities, trivia quizzes, and practical creativity exercises on IP and the theory of inventive problem solving (TRIZ). At the end of the Youth Camps, the participants rated the seminars 4.5/5 for effectiveness and interactivity.

Mr. Sherif Saadallah, Executive Director of WIPO Academy, represented by Ms. Altaye Tedla, Officer in Charge, Mr. Walid Abdelnasser, WIPO Director of the Division of Arab Countries, and Mr. Firas Al-Shawabkeh, Director of Youth Affairs and Advisor to the Ministry of Youth in Jordan delivered the opening remarks at the Creativity and Innovation Al Hussein Youth Camps.
The support offered by the WIPO Academy falls under the framework of the IP4Youth&Teachers service, which assists IP offices, ministries of education and youth based institutions with their efforts to invigorate creativity and IP by adapting WIPO’s course content to the cultural heritage and linguistic preferences of their countries. The IP4Youth&Teachers service includes the selection of IP Youth Ambassadors, teachers’ training, curricula development, and a forum for policy dialogue among educators.
