MUSO Report

On August 24, 2023, MUSO – a leading data company for the measurement and monitoring of global piracy, including streaming, web downloads, public and private torrents, and stream rippers –released its report on the first WIPO ALERT DOMAIN BLOCKING DATE ANALYSIS.

This report, funded by the Ministry of Culture, Sports, and Tourism (MCST) of the Republic of Korea, utilized data collected since the launch of the WIPO ALERT initiative in 2019 with the aim of assessing the effectiveness of website-blocking measures.

MUSO conducted a comparative analysis of site-blocking data from WIPO ALERT with their platform MUSO Discover Piracy by Industry dataset to determine whether site-blocking orders effectively deterred the use of pirate sites. The WIPO ALERT Contributing Countries monitored in this report were Greece, Italy, the Republic of Korea, Lithuania, Peru, the Russian Federation, and Spain.
