eMadrid – Manage Representative: Enhancements

14 novembre 2024

As part of our continued work to provide you with enhanced user experience and greater security, we are introducing changes to “Manage Representative”, available under eMadrid.

/web/emadrid/manage-your-trademarks

These enhancements bring us yet another step closer to what will become your fully integrated digital platform for centrally managing your complete international trademark registration portfolio.

What’s new?

1. Increased security

We have introduced additional authorization – through email validation – to ensure maximum security of your international trademark registration(s).

Important! We must have an on-record email address for the holder or representative depending on the action you wish to take:

  • Holder authorization (signature) is required to appoint/replace a representative, and to cancel a representative (as the holder).
  • Representative authorization (signature) is required to change representative name/contact details, and to cancel a representative (as the representative).

If you do not access the service using your on-record email address (i.e., if your WIPO Account email address is not the same as your on-record international trademark registration email address), we will send an authorization (signature) request to that email address. If we do not receive the signed authorization within 14 days, we will cancel the request.

Check the email status of your international trademark registration(s)

  • Go to “Monitor your registration” under eMadrid;
  • Select “Advanced search” and enter holder (or representative) name;
  • Click on “Email address status” in the left-hand list of filters; and
  • Filter the results by heading (example ‘Holder email address missing’) to get a list of all international trademark registrations for which you have not provided holder (or representative) email address.

Find out more about managing – and providing missing – email addresses.

Tip! Keep your email address up to date. For best user experience, we recommend that – for the time being – you use the same email address for:

  • the WIPO Account you use to perform eMadrid transactions; and
  • all your international trademark registrations.

2. New functionality for enhanced portfolio management

To increase efficiency, you can now display all international trademark registrations that use the same on-record holder (or representative) email address. Why? So that you can quickly and easily request changes for up to 500 international trademark registrations simultaneously!

When will we launch these changes?

Our goal is to release this on Wednesday, November 20, 2024, at 10:00 (Geneva time). Check back soon!
