A New Record for WIPO Academy’s IP Lectures for University Students in Indonesia

The WIPO Academy held week-long online lectures on intellectual property (IP) from November 4 to 8, 2024 for students at Universitas Indonesia and Universitas Padjadjaran in Indonesia. The popular annual lecture series had the highest turnout yet with a record-breaking 1,849 participants under the age of 35 from undergraduate and graduate programs across both universities.
The IP lectures form part of the WIPO Academy University Partnerships Program’s cooperation with universities in Indonesia to promote IP higher education.
What did the IP lectures cover?
WIPO experts including a WIPO Young Expert covered a range of topics including:
- WIPO administered treaties;
- The international protection of trademarks, designs and geographical indications;
- Recent developments under the Standing Committee on Trademarks, Designs and Geographical Indications;
- Recent copyright developments in new technologies and the copyright implications of artificial intelligence;
- IP and traditional knowledge, traditional cultural expressions and genetic resources; and
- The international protection of patents and recent developments on patent law.
