Brexit Reminder: September 30, 2021 — Deadline to File UK National Design Applications, Claiming the Earlier Filing Date of Your Original International Registration

Are you the holder of an international registration which designates the European Union and for which a Statement of Grant of Protection from the European Union Intellectual Property Office was still pending at the end of the Brexit transition period on January 1, 2021?

If so, you must file a new national UK design application directly with the United Kingdom Intellectual Property Office (UK IPO) by September 30, 2021, in order to retain the rights associated with the earlier filing of the Hague System application.  Find out more: UK government guidance.

Note: The UK IPO is encouraging all those concerned to file such national design applications as soon as possible.
