Morocco: More Professionals Eligible to Offer Pro Bono Services

On May 7, 2018, the Moroccan Industrial and Commercial Property Office (OMPIC) adopted new eligibility criteria for pro-bono professionals who wish to offer their services to the Inventor Assistance Program (IAP).
The aim of the new eligibility to criteria is to allow a wider selection of patent professionals to provide their pro bono services via the IAP. The professionals that now qualify to apply as pro-bono patent specialists include:
- Industrial property consultants registered with the OMPIC;
- Lawyers with certified expertise in the area of patents;
- Focal points in a Technology and Innovation Support Center (TISC), with proven skills and experience in all aspects of patents;
- Members of an active inventors’ association authorized by the OMPIC who have competences and experience in the area of patents.
