Details
Subject/Type: | Piracy |
Focus: | Software |
Country/Territory: | United States of America |
Objective: | To provide an understanding of the factors influencing software piracy. |
Sample: | 139 undergraduate accounting students |
Methodology: | Questionnaire |
Main Findings
Found that a student's propensity to pirate software is directly related to his attitudes toward the behaviour and the perception of reference groups (friends and superiors). Knowledge of copyright laws appeared to have little impact on behaviour, though this could be due to poor knowledge of the laws and the belief that they are not enforced.
