16 letters of intent signed at productive Manila matchmaking event

On April 23-24, WIPO organized a regional match-making seminar on wastewater treatment needs in Indonesia, the Philippines, and Viet Nam, in collaboration with Asian Development Bank (ADB), the Climate Technology Centre and Network (CTCN), and the Intellectual Property Office of the Philippines (IPOPHL), with the support of the Japan Patent Office”. The outcomes were extremely positive – with approximately 100 participants, including WIPO GREEN Partners such as ADB, CTCN, IPEx, KOTEC, LESI, PIIPA, Robin Paul Advisory and UNEP, 16 letters of intent signed and numerous other connections. WIPO GREEN is planning to hold similar matchmaking events in other regions.

VisionEdge Technologies (VT), an International Alternative Investment Review (IAIR) Awards 2014 winner for Best Company for Sustainability Cleantech South East Asia, is a business and technology advisory firm currently engaged by Asian Development Bank (ADB) as its implementation consultant to assist with the design and roll out a Low Carbon Technology Marketplace (LCTM) for Asia Pacific. It is behind the Cleantech Marketplace Forum (CTMF) connecting clean technologies with investment, financing, projects and markets across the region. VT is the latest among 56 other WIPO GREEN Partners.

The needs submission form on the WIPO GREEN website has been updated to enable seekers to provide more details on their needs and thus maximize the potential for a match. The revised form also contains guidelines on how to fill in the various fields for maximum effect.

WIPO GREEN to participate in the Southeast Water Technology Innovation Cluster (H20 TECH), Atlanta

WIPO GREEN has agreed to participate in the Southeast Water Technology Innovation Cluster (H20 TECH), a Georgia State University (GSU) initiative housed in the GSU CollabTech Innovation Hub in Atlanta. H20 TECH builds upon formal relationships with the United States Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Water Technology Innovation Clusters, and aims to promote innovation in the water technology sector through research, development and deployment.

TechnologieAllianz and OpenIX cross list technologies

TechnologieAllianz and OpenIX have agreed to cross list eighty four and fifteen environmental technologies respectively on the WIPO GREEN marketplace.

TechnologieAllianz unites patent marketing agencies and technology transfer agencies in a single network – a German association representing over 200 scientific institutes and 10000 scientists. The association makes the inventions from these institutes available to industry, and provides a platform for its members to cooperate with one another. OpenIX is a South African platform that delivers tangible solutions to persistent challenges, and connects leading African researchers and technology entrepreneurs with imminent commercial opportunities.

Clean Energy Access Network (CLEAN) launched in India

A broad alliance formed by 12 key stakeholders in the decentralized energy access sector announced the launch of the Clean Energy Access Network (CLEAN) in New Delhi, India on April 8. CLEAN will represent and advocate on behalf of the sector to important public and private stakeholders, particularly the government at the central and state levels.

Hunan Province, People’s Republic of China, launches low carbon technology incubator

Located in Golden Oasis Park, the incubator is for climate technology start-ups and businesses that aim to attract cleantech investors. The provincial government will also support a venture capital fund for early-stage cleantech investments and a low-carbon network and market platform in Hunan.

ECOlite by OpenIX

The ECOlite is a solar home lighting system that is modular by design to match end user price points. Unlike integrated designs modularity enables more incremental purchases and expansion of the system. POME to electricity by a palm oil mill in Indonesia

This need has been identified as a part of WIPO GREEN's project "Needs and technology identification in Vietnam, Indonesia and the Philippines in the wastewater treatment sector”. PT. Perkebunan Nusantara VI (Palm oil mill) is seeking Palm Oil Mill Effluent (POME) to electricity or POME to liquid fertilizer technology in Jambi City, Indonesia.
