Over 60 IP office staff joined a webinar that delivered pre-accession training on the Hague Agreement for non-contracting parties in ASEAN. The webinar was organized by the EUIPO’s ARISE+IPR program based in Bangkok.
WIPO provided a number of speakers who covered the latest developments in the Hague System, the role of the WIPO International Bureau and role of an IP Office in a contracting party, and the required legal preparatory work for accession to the Hague Agreement.
In his opening remarks, Mr. Peter Willimott, Officer-in-charge of the WSO commented, “ASEAN is a region bursting with creativity, and design is at the heart of this creativity. Such creativity has value, and it is important that this value is protected with a registered industrial design domestically but obtaining protection for a design overseas is simple and efficient through the Hague System.”
