IP, Innovation and Youth for a Better Life – World IP Day in Malaysia

The WIPO Singapore’s Officer-in-charge, Mr. Peter Willimott, was delighted to speak at the World IP Day event organized by the Intellectual Property Corporation of Malaysia (MyIPO).

On the panel with a range of young innovators and creators, Mr. Willimott showcased the programs WIPO has initiated to help young people to better understand IP to achieve their goals, generate income, create jobs, tackle local and global challenges and support community and national development.

These programs include:

Young Experts Program - aimed at forging the next generation of intellectual property leaders. Successful applicants join a two-year program hosted at WIPO designed to expose young people with high potential, particularly from developing and least developed countries as well as countries in transition, to the technical and policy aspects of IP.

WIPO Academy: Gearing up for your IP journey - the WIPO Academy offers training courses on intellectual property education and skills-building essential to innovation and creativity. The Academy’s training combines face-to-face and Distance Learning (DL) courses that IP experts teach to provide an in-depth view of the fundamentals of IP law.

The WIPO Academy’s IP4Youth&Teachers service offers complementary practical tools for youth, designed to facilitate teaching. The Youth Corner will relaunch soon.

WIPO Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) Young - offers a networking and training forum for young professionals interested in ADR options for IP disputes, such as mediation and arbitration. Membership is free of charge and it is open to young professionals with a background in IP and ADR.
