Outcome - Second session Lisbon Working Group for the Preparation of Common Regulations under the Lisbon Agreement and the Geneva Act of the Lisbon Agreement (April 3-5, 2017)

The purpose of the second session of the Lisbon Working Group for the Preparation of Common Regulations under the Lisbon Agreement and the Geneva Act of the Lisbon Agreement was (i) to examine the proposed revised draft Common Regulations Under the Lisbon Agreement for the Protection of Appellations of Origin and Their International Registration and the Geneva Act of the Lisbon Agreement on Appellations of Origin and Geographical Indications (document LI/WG/PCR/2/2) as requested by the Working Group at the end of its first session in June 2016, and (ii) to further consider the financial sustainability of the Lisbon Union (document LI/WG/PCR/2/5).
At the end of the session, the Working Group agreed to recommend to the Lisbon Union Assembly that, at its 2017 session, the draft Common Regulations under the Lisbon Agreement for the Protection of Appellations of Origin and their International Registration and the Geneva Act of the Lisbon Agreement on Appellations of Origin and Geographical Indications (hereinafter referred to as “the Common Regulations”), as amended by the Working Group, be adopted.
