Mr. Jong-An Kim, a national of the Republic of Korea, is currently a Senior Director of the Information Planning Division, Korean Intellectual Property Office (KIPO).
Before joining KIPO again in 2002, he had worked as a Senior Program Officer in the Developing Countries (PCT) Division of the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) for three years. In 1981, he passed the Korean Senior Government Examination and then worked for the government of the Republic of Korea including the Korean Intellectual Property Office (KIPO). His experiences in KIPO include Director of the International Intellectual Property Training Institute (IIPTI), Director of Planning and Budget Division, Administrative Director of Appellate Trail Board, Professor of IIPTI, Deputy Director of Intellectual Property Policy Division, Trademark Examiner and Deputy Director of IIPTI.
He had also taught intellectual property law at many universities and gave regular lectures on the subject of trademark law and practice at the Graduate school of Intellectual Property and Law, Yonsei University and IIPTI.
He qualified as a Korean Patent and Trademark Attorney and passed the New York State Bar Examination in 1992.
Mr. Kim holds a law degree (LL.B.) from the Seoul National University, the Republic of Korea (1982) and a LL.M. from the University of Pennsylvania, Philadelphia, USA (1990).
