Robert Tijssen, a national of the Netherlands, is associate professor at the Centre for Science and Technology Studies (CWTS), Leiden University (www.cwts.nl).
His current activities include the Dutch "Patents Monitor", funded by the Netherlands Ministry of Science, EC-funded research projects and contributions to the EC's Third European Report on Science and Technology Indicators 2003. He is the coordinator of the Netherlands Observatory of Science and Technology (www.nowt.nl), the producer of the Science and Technology Indicators Report for the Dutch government.
His current research interests focus on quantitative indicators of R&D performance, bibliometric analysis of research organizations, networks and national science systems, and empirical studies of industry-university research linkages. He has published a large number of academic articles and a few books on these topics.
Dr. Robert Tijssen has a M.Sc. Mathematical Psychology from the Leiden University, and a Ph.D. in Science Studies from the same university.
