Schumpeter Tamada is a research fellow at the Research Institute of Economy, Trade, and Industry (RIETI). Prior to joining RIETI, he was an Associate Professor at Tsukuba Advanced Research Alliance, University of Tsukuba. Before pursuing the academic track, he served as Deputy Director for policy planning at Technology Policy Division, the Ministry of International Trade and Industry (MITI), Japanese Government.
He obtained a Master's degree in Public Administration from Harvard University in 1997 and Ph.D. from the University of Tokyo in 2002. His research interests include the science and technology policy, especially the science linkage in technologies patented in Japan, Research and Development Tax Credit, and university-industry cooperation.
