Professor Ganguli, a national of India, is presently Advisor of VISION-IPR in Mumbai. He obtained his M.Sc. in Chemistry from the Indian Institute of Technology (Kanpur), Ph.D. in Chemical Physics from the Tata Institute of Fundamental Research, Mumbai, and completed his Post Doctoral Research in Germany and Canada. He was a Visiting Scientist at the Bhabha Atomic Research Centre in 1981 before joining Hindustan Lever, Ltd. as a Research Scientist.
Professor Ganguli began his career as a Research Scientist in Basic and Industrial Research and was subsequently involved in Technology Assessment, Forecasting and Transfer including Factory Management and Business Planning. From 1991 to 1996, he was the Head of Information Services and Patents at the Hindustan Lever Research Centre. His last assignment at HLL involved corporate information risk and security management and knowledge management.
He has now set up a consulting group "VISION-IPR" to offer services in management of IPR, information security and knowledge management. He is a qualified and a leading Patent Attorney in India and an expert in IPR and Information Management.
An elected Fellow of the Maharashtra Academy of Sciences, a recipient of the National Science Talent Scholarship (NSTS) and an Alexander von Humboldt Foundation Fellow (Germany), Professor Ganguli has several publications in Chemical Physics, Chemical Processes, Specialty Materials. He is the author of over 30 publications, which include research papers in the field of IPR.
He is Co-Chairman of several advisory committees, task force and is associated with several academic and research institutions.
Professor Ganguli is a member of the International Editorial Board of the IPR Journal "World Patent Information" published by Elsevier Science Limited, UK. His book titled Gearing Up for Patents - The Indian Scenario was published by Universities Press (an associate of Orient Longman in India) in January 1998. His second book titled "Intellectual Property Rights - Unleashing the Knowledge Economy" was released on March 28, 2001, the foreword of which was written by Dr. Kamil Idris, Director General of the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO).
