Conference on Intellectual Property and Public Policy Issues

CICG, Geneva, July 13 and 14, 2009

Background

The World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) is organizing a Conference on Intellectual Property and Public Policy Issues to be held on July 13 and 14, 2009, at the International Conference Center Geneva (CICG), following a proposal by the Standing Committee on the Law of Patents (SCP) at its 12th session held in Geneva from June 23 to 27, 2008 in the context of discussing a work program for the SCP. The Conference will address issues relating to the interface of intellectual property with other areas of public policy, notably health, the environment, climate change and food security and serve as a global forum to discuss issues and solutions to some of the major challenges in relation to intellectual property the world faces today.

The event is open to the general public.

  • representatives of the Member States of WIPO, Paris Union and/or Berne Union, as well as Member States of the United Nations and its specialized agencies; ­
